We boys ate brownies like boys do: you put a whole square against your mouth and, the brownie being too large to fit in easily, apply firm pressure with the palm of your hand until your mouth is full. Then wipe your hands on your knees and run, breathing heavily through your nose. The ritual establishes dominance by signaling that you are still a boy, thoughtless of the esteem of girls.
